# Notifications (https://upapi.io/docs/platform/notifications)

The bell in the dashboard carries everything the platform needs you to know.
Notifications also arrive as push on the installed mobile apps, and tapping one
opens the page it refers to.

## Quota warnings [#quota-warnings]

You are notified when your organization's consumption crosses **70% and 90%**
of its monthly quota. Those are the same percentages at which the billing meters
change colour, so the bell can never announce a number the dashboard does not
also show.

Each threshold fires **once** per billing period, no matter how many calls
follow, so a busy month produces two messages rather than a stream. If you are
on a [trial](https://upapi.io/docs/plans#trials), the trial's own unit budget is tracked
separately and warns at the same two marks — a trial can never reach 70% of a
monthly quota, so without this it would get no warning at all before running
out.

Warnings go to the organization owner.

## Other notifications [#other-notifications]

| Event | Who receives it |
| ------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------- |
| An API key was created | The person who created it |
| A trial started, converted, or ended | The organization owner |
| A subscription became active, or a payment failed | The organization owner |
| A teammate accepted an invitation | The teammate and the owner |

## Turning them off [#turning-them-off]

Notification and push preferences live in the dashboard. Quota warnings are
worth keeping on: they are the only proactive signal before calls start failing
with `429 RATE_LIMITED`.

For a programmatic check instead of a notification, poll
[`/api/usage`](https://upapi.io/docs/usage-api) — it reports the same position and costs no
units.
